The Holidays Are Over… Sorta…

As some of you may or may not have noticed, I haven’t been putting my Every Day is a Holiday Etsy treasuries up on my blog. An illness and a freelance project were what initially got in the way last month, but the scope of the holiday project proved to be a bit much to blog about every single day, especially for someone like me who isn’t much for words to begin with. Between 50-hour work weeks, side craft projects, an intense job search and real life in general, it was hard to find the time every day to research the given holiday and write something about it. I am still creating the treasuries and posting them on Pinterest and my Facebook page, and in theory I could still post them here with just a simple image linking to Etsy. But without writing a little bit about the holiday and explaining how I relate to it on a personal level, it just seemed like a shameless traffic-driving tactic and I don’t want to do that.

I do promise to keep up with the treasuries themselves on Etsy (I may fall a day or two behind, but I will always catch up) and blog on here about what’s going on in my craft world. I recently made invitations for my niece’s sorority luncheon, and am in the middle of putting together another invitation for my brother- and sister-in-law’s tenth anniversary party and vow renewal, and I hope to take some photos and share those projects with you in the coming weeks. Plus, if I put together an Etsy treasury for a holiday that does hold special meaning to me, I will likely also include it here.

So thanks for the follows and support and comments and likes, and keep them coming! And though I may not be blogging about everyday holidays, I hope the message still rings true for you all: What’s better than finding something to celebrate every single day?

Etsy Treasury: Ask a Question Day (Every Day is a Holiday)

Did you know that today is Ask a Question Day? Have you celebrated by asking a deep, philosophical question today? Or have you only asked simple questions that only demand simple answers, like a yes or no question? Will this entire blog post be made up of questions?

(Don’t worry, I’m not that sadistic. Or am I?)

Celebrating Ask a Question Day gives us the opportunity to do precisely that: Ask a question! Preferably one that you wouldn’t have asked otherwise, but there are no rules to this holiday as far as I know. Perhaps it’s a difficult question that was waiting for the right opportunity to be asked, or maybe you’ve just been wondering about something for a while and never got around to finding someone who could give you the answer. Everyone has questions that need answers, so there’s no reason for anyone to not celebrate! You probably already celebrated without even knowing by asking someone what time it was or asking your kids what they did in school today. That’s the beauty of a holiday like this: It would be next to impossible to NOT celebrate it!

Remember to take a closer look at the treasury and the featured items and shops. If you have any questions… well, you guessed it: just ask! Oh, and I nearly forgot… Have you seen the other Every Day is a Holiday treasuries that I have put together here? 😉

“Every Day is a Holiday” is my Etsy Treasury project for 2014. I’m hoping to find unique and beautiful items that exemplify the holiday of the day—the sillier and weirder, the better! What’s better than finding something worth celebrating each and every day?

Etsy Treasury: Earmuffs Day (Every Day is a Holiday)

My first reaction when I came across Earmuffs Day was “Why is this holiday set in the middle of March?” After all, we’re only a week or so away from the official start of spring, and earmuffs are most handy in the dead of winter to keep our ears protected from the harsh cold. It was in the 60s three days ago for crying out loud! And then I remembered going outside to take the garbage out the previous morning. The temperature had plummeted to about 20 degrees with wind gusts that nearly knocked my off my front steps. (Not even joking about that last part. I was still holding the screen door handle when the wind blasted the door wide open with such force that it nearly pulled me right off the stoop.) Spring may be around the corner, but winter has not let up on the crazy firm grasp it’s held on us this season. So I guess celebrating Earmuffs Day in mid-March serves as a gentle reminder that you just might still need to bundle up. Spring will get here when she’s damn good and ready.

There are some adorable earmuffs to be found on Etsy! Some are crocheted, some are fur. Some are more like bands you wear around your head, some are designed more like classic headphones. Regardless of what kind you prefer or which color suits your fancy, take a look at what these Etsians have to offer your delicate ears! Perhaps you’ll find the pair that will keep you a little warmer next winter! Remember to see my other Every Day is a Holiday treasuries here!
