The Holidays Are Over… Sorta…

As some of you may or may not have noticed, I haven’t been putting my Every Day is a Holiday Etsy treasuries up on my blog. An illness and a freelance project were what initially got in the way last month, but the scope of the holiday project proved to be a bit much to blog about every single day, especially for someone like me who isn’t much for words to begin with. Between 50-hour work weeks, side craft projects, an intense job search and real life in general, it was hard to find the time every day to research the given holiday and write something about it. I am still creating the treasuries and posting them on Pinterest and my Facebook page, and in theory I could still post them here with just a simple image linking to Etsy. But without writing a little bit about the holiday and explaining how I relate to it on a personal level, it just seemed like a shameless traffic-driving tactic and I don’t want to do that.

I do promise to keep up with the treasuries themselves on Etsy (I may fall a day or two behind, but I will always catch up) and blog on here about what’s going on in my craft world. I recently made invitations for my niece’s sorority luncheon, and am in the middle of putting together another invitation for my brother- and sister-in-law’s tenth anniversary party and vow renewal, and I hope to take some photos and share those projects with you in the coming weeks. Plus, if I put together an Etsy treasury for a holiday that does hold special meaning to me, I will likely also include it here.

So thanks for the follows and support and comments and likes, and keep them coming! And though I may not be blogging about everyday holidays, I hope the message still rings true for you all: What’s better than finding something to celebrate every single day?

Etsy Treasury: Ask a Question Day (Every Day is a Holiday)

Did you know that today is Ask a Question Day? Have you celebrated by asking a deep, philosophical question today? Or have you only asked simple questions that only demand simple answers, like a yes or no question? Will this entire blog post be made up of questions?

(Don’t worry, I’m not that sadistic. Or am I?)

Celebrating Ask a Question Day gives us the opportunity to do precisely that: Ask a question! Preferably one that you wouldn’t have asked otherwise, but there are no rules to this holiday as far as I know. Perhaps it’s a difficult question that was waiting for the right opportunity to be asked, or maybe you’ve just been wondering about something for a while and never got around to finding someone who could give you the answer. Everyone has questions that need answers, so there’s no reason for anyone to not celebrate! You probably already celebrated without even knowing by asking someone what time it was or asking your kids what they did in school today. That’s the beauty of a holiday like this: It would be next to impossible to NOT celebrate it!

Remember to take a closer look at the treasury and the featured items and shops. If you have any questions… well, you guessed it: just ask! Oh, and I nearly forgot… Have you seen the other Every Day is a Holiday treasuries that I have put together here? 😉

“Every Day is a Holiday” is my Etsy Treasury project for 2014. I’m hoping to find unique and beautiful items that exemplify the holiday of the day—the sillier and weirder, the better! What’s better than finding something worth celebrating each and every day?

Etsy Treasury: Organize Your Home Office Day (Every Day is a Holiday)

Unless you’re some kind of neat-freak, chances are your home office could use a little organizing. My desk space is usually a chaotic mess of to-do, already-done, and perhaps-I-should-do piles (which studies have shown is a sign of true creativity), but I recently got fed up with the mess and cleaned everything off. It’s amazing how much more productive you can be when there are fewer distractions in front of you! (Not that the Internet isn’t one big, fat distraction all by itself…)

Organize Your Home Office Day reminds us to take some time to clear off the clutter and reveal the beautiful surface of your desk. My desktop is actually a 4.5′-long piece of 1/2″ glass I found in my basement when I moved into my apartment. It was nice to finally see the surface I’d cleaned off and rescued from the damp dinginess.

My treasury of home office finds has a bit of a unique color palette inspired by the stained bamboo pen holders. I was a little difficult to find items that fit with the scheme, but I think I did an okay job! Remember to show the featured shops and items some love, and to visit my other Every Day is a Holiday treasuries here!
