Who doesn’t love the cuteness of squirrels? Well, I guess there are a few of you out there who consider them to be a quite the pest, and if I’d ever had them burrow into my home I might be inclined to agree. But since I’ve never had that problem, I find them to be incredibly adorable. And I find them even more irresistible on Squirrel Appreciation Day!
My in-laws have taken to feeding whole peanuts to the squirrels in their yard. In nice weather, you will often find one of them “training” their squirrels to come right up to them to claim their delicious prizes. This hobby has provided my mother-in-law with several photo opportunities, and she’s managed to get quite the collection of squirrel portraits (along with pics of their bunnies, chipmunks, cardinals, blue jays, sparrows, mourning doves, and brown headed cowbirds).
During my squirrel-y search on Etsy, I found all sorts of things like fine art, sculptures, jewelry, home decor, greeting cards, and t-shirts. Proof that (generally speaking!) we do love our squirrel friends. Support your local independent artisans by visiting the shops, favoriting away, and buying something if it strikes your fancy! “Every Day is a Holiday” is my Etsy Treasury project for 2014. I’m hoping to find unique and beautiful items that exemplify the holiday of the day—the sillier and weirder, the better! What’s better than finding something worth celebrating each and every day?
